School Model

Spark Learning Center is a virtual-hybrid middle school, covering the North Carolina Standard Course of Study through interdisciplinary studies, delivered by a dedicated staff working in collaboration with the ArtSpace operations and leadership teams.

Every Spark learner has a Student Success Plan that reflects their unique strengths, goals, and schedule. The examples below show two possible schedule models within our blended learning framework - one for a student who spends more time on campus and one for a student working more independently. Teachers, students, and families will work together to create the on campus schedule that works best.

Each schedule will include:

  • Live Virtual Instruction - Whole group lessons in dedicated time slots, led by teachers, on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
  • Flex Blocks - These times are designated as options for either on campus work or virtual asynchronous work.
      • On campus sessions may include small groups, tutoring, project work, or community building.
      • Flex Blocks are scheduled Monday through Friday from 1-3pm.
  • Wednesdays are asynchronous days, with optional campus access for study hall, meetings, or organized social activities.
  • Extracurriculars - Tuesday & Thursday afternoons from 3-5pm - Optional, no cost clubs, sports, or specialty classes offered in partnership with ArtSpace.

While plans are individualized, all Spark students share a consistent rhythm of collaboration, connection, and dependable structure throughout the week. These sample schedules are meant to illustrate how flexible, personalized learning comes to life at Spark.
