Attendance / Engagement Expectations

Successful enrollment in Spark requires student family commitment to consistent attendance and engagement.

Attendance:

Spark students must comply with NC Compulsory Attendance Laws. To be counted present, students must:

  • Attend Morning Meeting and all scheduled synchronous instructional sessions each day unless previous arrangements have been made.
  • On days without synchronous sessions, complete posted assignments and/or check in with a designated staff member
  • Attend all required in-person sessions as outlined in student schedules and/or Student Success Plans (developed with caregiver input)

Engagement:

Spark students are required to be active learners in both virtual and in-person educational experiences. Specifically, students must:

  • Join all required digital learning platforms during instructional sessions
  • Participate in daily assignments, activities, and breakout rooms as directed by the teacher
  • Arrive on time for all scheduled synchronous sessions
  • Keep cameras on and remain visible for the duration of synchronous sessions
  • Participate in and complete assessments

Some students may require additional support to successfully access the curriculum. Spark supports students through the Student Support Process. Students are expected to put forth their best effort and communicate needs for extra support in a timely manner.

Spark Learning Center welcomes and encourages open, direct communication with families. Because much of our educational environment operates virtually, consistent communication is essential to maintaining a positive and productive partnership between staff and families.
